Please note that this home is located within a private, gated community. The exterior is monitored for security and compliance with policies and terms. The property is ideal for mature, respectful, responsible, groups who seek luxury, rest, and relaxation. If this sounds great to you, please read on for detailed information.
The Home:
The home has 3 levels of living space. This layout is great for privacy and separation, when you want it. At the same time, the home's mountain modern architecture provides rooms and spaces that are large enough for their purpose. The two master suites are upstairs. Each of these suites has a King bed with high quality sheets and bedding sure to provide you with a great night's sleep. Each master suite also features a walk in closet and a private bathroom. The south side master gives you views of Lake Granby, while the north side master looks towards Shadow Mountain Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. With these bedrooms, you can draw straws and both couples will end up winners. In between the master suites, there is a buffer. A loft style living room overlooks the main living room below, and features a big soft couch for relaxing, reading, or watching TV.
The middle level includes the Great Room, which combines the living room, dining room and kitchen. In the living room portion, you have vaulted ceilings that are over 15 feet high. Two opposing couches and banks of large windows provide views of the lakes, mountains, and forest that surround the home. The wide fireplace combines beautiful stonework with barn-wood and a "true view" gas fireplace that requires no glass, allowing you to feel the warmth of the fire but sparing you the mess, difficulty, or safety issues that go with a wood fire. Don't worry, if you want a wood burning fire, there are two options - more on that in a moment. The kitchen is a chef's delight. The center island includes the sink and 4 big barstools, a great place to serve up appetizers or breakfast. Turn around from the sink and you have a professional range with hood vent and warming lights. The kitchen includes a beautiful stainless steel french door fridge and stacked ovens, which are close to the sink and range, but out of the way for easy access and flow. There's also a coffee and tea nook plus more than enough cabinet and counter space for all of your food. Over by the dining table you have another bank of cabinets, a wine and beverage fridge, and long counter that makes buffet style serving of meals easy. The dining table is oval and seats 8 in comfort, with views that are to die for.
You'll want to step outside to fully immerse yourself in the panoramic views, and it's easy to do so in any season. The main living room has two doors leading to the covered wraparound deck. The homes roofline extends out and above the 3 sided deck, providing you with protection from the occasional rain or snowstorm. This amazing outdoor space includes a wood burning outdoor fireplace for warmth and ambiance. With unobstructed southern views, sunsets over Lake Granby are glorious. Kick back in the Adirondack chairs, and you might linger here long past sunset. Back inside, the main level includes a bit more than the great room. Tucked away past the stairs you'll find a dedicated office. If you must get some work done, good luck. The office has the same fantastic views of Lake Granby as the rest of the home, a not so subtle reminder that you aren't here to work. Finally, there is also a half bathroom for your convenience, and a mud room, for shoes, boots, coats and hats.
On the lower level, you have a very large living area. This lower living room includes a home theater area with a 65 inch HDTV. It also includes an 8 foot pool table, a Gran Board electronic bluetooth enabled dartboard, a secondary kitchen with wet bar and pizza oven, and a lazy-susan rotating poker table. On the Lake Granby side of the home, floor to ceiling glass frames your views across Lake Granby all the way to the Byers Peak Wilderness. Step outside and enjoy the in ground firepit with views that can't be beat. Cook some homemade pizzas and then do s'mores. Play some pool or darts while watching the big game, or just relax and stream the content of your choice. Barn doors separate the lower living room area from the third bedroom and sleeping area. The 3rd bedroom is ideal for singles or kids. It has 4 custom built Twin beds and each has an alcove with a light and outlets for plugging in phones or tablets. Since this lower level is sure to get some use, there's a large bathroom accessible from the main room. Also on this lower level you will find access to the heated garage, a large mud room, and the laundry room.
The Land and Location:
Mountain Shadows Estates is a quiet, private, gated, community with large homesite parcels. That said, you will have neighbors, and we seek respectful guests only. This home's lot is right on the ridgeline between Lake Granby and Shadow Mountain Lake. The building site takes advantage of this, and you'll find that every room offers you sweeping views of the lakes, mountains, the Arapaho National Forest and Rocky Mountain National Park. You can see the Byers Peak Wilderness over by Winter Park, and on a clear day, you can see the Eagle's Nest Wilderness over by Breckenridge and Vail. It's no wonder we call it the Grand Lakeview Lodge.
Arrival, Access, and Parking:
Once you've booked with us, we are here for you. We have a dedicated Guest Services line for guests who have booked or are in-house, so that we can help you have a fantastic vacation. When you arrive, you'll be welcomed by the home's caretaker, who will show you how things work, remind you of some rules, and attempt to answer questions that you might have. The home has plenty of parking. There are spots for 2 vehicles in the heated garage. You could park up to 4 or more vehicles outside without any issue. There is parking for trailers as well, depending upon the overall length. If you will have a trailer, please contact us before booking, to discuss the neighborhood association requirements for parking. After booking, a Vacation Rental Agreement will be provided. All guests are required to sign the agreement within 72 hours of booking, and prior to occupying the property. There may be other requirements. For example, Guests may be required to provide additional information about the group that will occupy the property and or identification documents. Background checks may be performed, and in some areas are required by local law. Guests may be required to provide a credit card and or a refundable security/damage deposit. We will be in touch after you book to gather additional information and to email you the rental agreement, which you can sign electronically - no printer required. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us before booking.
** Amenities - Some private or shared amenities may not be available for guest use during certain periods. Some amenities, when part of a property, may close daily, seasonally, or for maintenance. As such, all amenities can not be guaranteed to be available at all times. Please advise us when or before booking if you have questions about a specific property amenity so that we can give you the most accurate information possible for your dates.
** Air Conditioning - Most mountain resort properties were not built with air conditioning. During most hours of the day and weeks of the year, AC is not needed. Summer nights are cool and fans are provided at most properties. Check the average high and low temperatures and weather forecast for your dates of travel, and look at the list of amenities to see if AC or fans are part of the rental property and look for ceiling fans in photos.
** Group Sizes, High Occupancy Fees, & Maximum Occupancy - Some properties use a “High Occupancy Fee” to “raise the rate” for larger groups, and are thus able to list a lower nightly rate for smaller groups. Each rental agreement and associated rates are for a specific group size. Guests must enter the correct and maximum group size at the time of booking. The agreement requires a guest to confirm the group size and subsequently, to disclose any changes to the planned group size, which may result in an increase, or decrease, to the total cost, and may result in a security deposit becoming required.
** Video & Noise Monitoring - Please note that noise monitoring devices, and security cameras, do exist on the exterior of the property. Cameras are positioned to cover all entrances and exits of the home. Cameras are present to ensure the property remains secure and safe, as well as to ensure that guests are honest and upfront about their planned use of the property. If you plan to bring more people than you've indicated, more dogs than indicated, to host a party or event, or do not intend to respect neighbors or the value and quality of the property, then this is not the place for you, and you should not book the property. For normal, respectful groups, we are sorry that these statements and measures are necessary. Security cameras and noise monitoring devices are an example and demonstration that the property's owners are taking steps to ensure the home remains available for rental, and in good condition, for your benefit. Please let us know if you have any concerns.
** Cleaning Fees & Lengthy Rental Periods - The standard cleaning fee quoted as part of any booking is for the final cleaning, which is to be performed after the rental period has ended. For guests who are booking a lengthy stay of more than one week, a mid stay-cleaning fee equal to the final cleaning fee may apply for the second week, third week, and so on. If you are booking for a lengthy stay, please contact us before booking online to discuss your group, your dates, the rates, the cleaning schedule, etc.
